The Sierra y Selva Exportadora program, of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), managed to get small and medium-sized producers to market their products for more than S/ 94.5 million during 2021.
56% of this amount came from the national market and 44% from the international market. In addition, it meant a year-on-year increase in 17% in relation to the S/80.7 million achieved in 2020.
Midagri reported that said result is the product of the implementation of 163 commercial articulation plans to 159 organizations of agricultural producers in 37 production chains: Andean grains, potatoes, dairy products, bananas, aguaymanto, avocado, ginger, coffee, alpaca fiber, cocoa, among others. These strategies directly benefited 20,417 producers in the mountains and jungle of our country.
“Through said commercial articulation plans, Sierra y Selva Exportadora (SSE) worked to strengthen the capacities of small and medium producers of family farming in matters of business and commercial management and access to the national and international market, directly and without intermediaries,” the ministry said in a statement.
In the past year, SSE has also organized 94 virtual dissemination events and workshops on business management for productive chains prioritized in terms of associativity, leadership, among others that benefited 4,720 people. Also, he developed 26 promotion and marketing mechanisms where the bidding producers achieved a sales projection of approximately S/ 23.4 million.
