According to CNN, Netflix alleges that the increase in its prices – it is the second since October 2020 – is explained by the need to “continue to offer a wide variety of quality entertainment options.”

Following the announcement, shares of the streaming company rose roughly 2%. It is worth noting that the increase comes a week before they announce their fourth quarter earnings.

The increase in rates is also due to spending millions of dollars on content – summarizes CNN – for which, while streaming services become more integral in entertainment, the growth of companies like Netflix tends to slow down and attract new subscribers. it becomes more difficult.

Netflix currently has 213.5 million subscribers, after raising 4.4 million last October.
