The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) reported that, during 2021, through Agro Rural, it allocated around 16,673 tons of guano from the islands (organic and artisanal product) at a social price for small family farming of 23 regions of the country.
In that sense, he mentioned that a total of 33,777 families accessed this benefit in the regions of Amazonas, Áncash, Apurímac, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huancavelica, Huánuco, Ica, Junín, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Madre de Dios, Moquegua, Pasco, Piura, Puno, San Martin, Tacna, Tumbes and Ucayali.
In this regard, Rogelio Huamani Carbajal, executive director of Agro Rural, highlighted that thanks to this last year, 44,559.05 hectares of crops such as coffee, cocoa, quinoa, potatoes, olives and avocados, mainly, were paid with this organic product.
“The guano from the islands that Agro Rural provides to small producers is one of the best natural fertilizers, since it has a high nutrient content to improve the management and fertility of agricultural land, as well as the increase in the yield of its crops. crops, through the process of mineralization of organic matter”, he added.
