The head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), Eduardo González Toro, pointed out that Daniel Salaverry may not exercise functions as president of Perupetro until the Comptroller General of the Republic issues its report regarding compliance with the legal requirements to assume the position.
“The Lord Daniel Salaverry cannot make use of his powers because he has not yet been appointed by the shareholders’ meeting, so what we have indicated is that the appointment will be subsequent to the result that the Comptroller gives, that is, the Comptroller’s report will decide the things”, said the head of the Minem to the Energy Commission.
According to the owner of Minem, the appointment of Salaverry Villa at the head of Perupetro was made under current legal regulations, however, it will be the Comptroller’s Office that will decide this. The report is expected to be released next week.
“Currently Mr. [Salaverry] he only has the resolution but not the designation, that is why everything has been put on standby, and he cannot perform his duties until the Comptroller’s office is resolved,” said the official.
