Massify digitization at payment points

Since the third quarter of 2020, within the framework of the response to the pandemic and the growing number of infections in markets and places of commercial exchange, the need to find mechanisms to reduce physical contact from person to person, the use of of money in a more secure way, as well as the time of permanence of the visitors in the markets.

We take on the challenge of generating a new habit of financial exchange and building digital ecosystems in the midst of a social context such as the one that Covid-19 came to install in the world. Thus, we take the urgency as an opportunity to start a process of financial inclusion unprecedented in Peru and in the region.

In 15 months, through the Paga Seguro project, it has reached more than 200 markets in 15 regions of the country, managing to affiliate more than 6,000 sales positions. Which represents half of the main food markets throughout the country. This has meant an average of 158,000 operations per month, exceeding the sum of S / 49 million in operations through digital wallets. This without considering that due to a “spillover effect” and thanks to the very nature of the relationships that occur in the market, the adoption of trends and, therefore, the use of wallets in the medium term is accelerated.

By 2022 we intend to reach all of the main food markets throughout the national territory, with a sustained campaign for the adoption of digital wallets as a secure, easy and contactless means of payment. This complemented with an educational program for diverse audiences, which offers effective tools for strengthening capacities for autonomy and financial health.
