After five months without the public debt figures being known, the Ministry of Finance reissued the official gazettes. The information corresponding to August 2021 was published around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, the day the government promised to share the numbers.
A striking fact is that within the category of aggregate public debt of the non-financial public sector (NFPS) there are $ 73,206.3 million as the total amount of aggregate public debt plus other obligations.
Of that amount, $ 44,136.8 are external debt plus other obligations and $ 29,069.5 million for internal debt plus other obligations. And like other liabilities, Finance posted $ 5,074 million in August of last year.

Within the category are payment agreements with the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS) valued at $ 381 million, which have been crawling since July.

Last Thursday, the State Portfolio indicated that through ministerial agreements 96 and 99, of October 15 and 22, 2021, respectively, it had issued the Technical standard for the preparation, content and publication of the public debt bulletin and its statistical annex.
This new methodology would include indicators of the rule of debt and obligations of the non-financial public sector and Social Security.
Before the dissemination of information was paralyzed, the latest available report realized that in July 2021, the public debt was established at $ 62,321.90 million, equivalent to 59.13% of GDP. (I)
