Southern mining corridor: five communities are unaware of signed agreements and demand a new dialogue

This Thursday, five communities of Ccapacmarca (district within Chumbivilcas, in Cusco) agreed to ignore the agreements established on December 30, 2021 between the Government, MMG Las Bambas and the communities that blocked a section of the southern mining corridor pending contractual improvements.

In detail, these communities unanimously approved to summon President Pedro Castillo, Prime Minister Mirtha Vásquez and MMG Las Bambas representatives for this January 14 at the Sayhua Community Stadium.

If the head of state does not attend, they allege that the dialogue will not take place and consequently, they will lift a measure of struggle.

The communities demand the repeal of Ministerial Resolution 372-2018-MTC, which converted communal roads into national roads; in addition to being considered as a zone of environmental and social influence.

It is worth mentioning that the Ccapacmarca, Huscabamba, 8 de Agosto, Tahuay and Sayhua communities participated in the meeting. They do not know Wilber Fuentes as their representative.
