Marco López, former head of the Monetary Regulation Board, heads the shortlist presented by Lasso to occupy the Superintendency of Companies

The President of the Republic sent the list of candidates to the CPCCS to replace Víctor Anchundia, who was removed by the Assembly.

Thursday night, the president Guillermo Lasso sent to the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS) the shortlist of candidates to occupy the Superintendency of Companies, Valores y Seguros, after the dismissal and censorship of former Superintendent Víctor Anchundia.

The shortlist presented by the president is made up of:

  • Marco Giovanni López Narváez: appointed in the Lenín Moreno government as the president’s delegate to the Monetary and Financial Policy and Regulation Board.
  • María Tatiana García Plaza: He was in charge of Notary 23 of Guayaquil.
  • Esteban Francisco Coello Muñoz: former president of the Ecuadorian American Chamber of Commerce Cuenca.

On December 8, 2021, the Assembly dismissed the former Superintendent of Companies for having failed to comply with the control and surveillance functions to stop the loss of $ 990 million tol Institute of Social Security of the National Police (Isspol) in irregular operations with the companies Ecuagran, Delcorp and Decevale.

After this event, Lasso had a period of 30 days to deliver the list to the CPCCS. According to the Companies Law, the candidate who is elected will perform functions during the time remaining to complete the term for which Anchundia was elected, that is, until 2024. (I)
