In November 2021, the production of the Fishing sector increased by 13.03% when compared to the same period of the previous year, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), in the technical report Situation Advancement of Economic Activity.
Along these lines, he specified that the sector between January and December of last year achieved a cumulative growth of 6.09%. The result was driven by the expansion of fishing of maritime origin (13.36%) due to the greater landing of species for indirect human consumption (fishmeal and fish oil). In this way, 917,779 tons of anchovy were extracted which, compared to the 713,956 tons reported in the same month of 2020, registered an increase of 28.55%.
On the contrary, the extraction of species for direct human consumption decreased by -11.41% associated with the low availability of species for consumption in fresh (-21.1%), frozen (-4.6%) and cured ( -53.3%); however, there was a higher landing of species for canning (59.4%).
On the other hand, fishing of continental origin increased by 7.17% due to greater resources in fresh state.
