The sale of mining products, such as gold, silver, copper and lead, ranked first among non-traditional exports from Ecuador in 2021, according to figures from the Central Bank of Ecuador (BCE). Between January and October of last year, mining products totaled $ 1,194,555, 85% more compared to the same period in 2020.

From january to december

1. In 2021, a study prepared by Lundin Gold revealed that between 2015 and 2019 Yantzaza was the canton where formal employment grew the most, thanks to the contribution of the mining industry.

2. So far, 162,000 plants have been planted on 100 hectares in the province of Imbabura as part of the SolGold company’s “1 million plants” reforestation program, the objective of which is to restore and rehabilitate wooded areas.

6. The Canadian company Dundee Precious Metals (DPM), recognized for its leadership in innovation, social progress and environmental care, acquired the Loma Larga project, in the province of Azuay.

7. The Action Plan for the mining sector is established through Presidential Decree 151, which promotes policies of efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, environmental and social responsibility.

8. According to data from the Internal Revenue Service (SRI), the taxes paid by the mining sector grew by 97% between 2020 and 2021 (January-November period).
