Diversity and inclusion

JANUARY AND AUGUST

Dolores Prado Marenco was inaugurated as the CEO of Holcim Ecuador. In addition, Caterina Costa de GarcĂ­a was appointed as the new president of the Board of Directors.

New line of ECO cements

FEBRUARY

The ECO-label cement line was presented with a 30% lower CO2 footprint compared to the local industry standard, they are Holcim Strong and Holcim Ultradurable.

Recognition of talent and performance

JUNE

The Gold Sack was held, an initiative that rewards the excellence and performance of employees. In this edition they classified 22 out of 40 proposals submitted.

Achievement of foreign certification

JULY

The San Eduardo concrete operations in Guayaquil and Quito Norte, and the Guayaquil Cement Plant obtained the Concrete Sustainability Council Gold certification, becoming the first cement, concrete and aggregates producer in the country to validate its sustainability practices.

New solutions for construction

JULY AND OCTOBER

Idracreto (internal curing product for concrete that releases additional moisture to the mix) and GacoFlex (specialized product for waterproofing roofs) are the solutions that joined the extensive range of construction products.

Eco-efficient plants and operations

SEPTEMBER

The Ministry of the Environment certified the San Eduardo, Quito Norte, Quito Sur and Ambato concrete plants, adding to the eco-efficiencies of the two cement plants in Guayaquil and Latacunga; and the Manta, Machala and Cuenca concrete plants.

Sustainability report report

OCTOBER

The Sustainable Development Report of the 2019 and 2020 management was presented, a report of the commitment to the planet and customers, highlighting that in the strongest period of the pandemic, 5,000 food baskets were delivered to vulnerable communities and more than 3.3 million square meters of streets.

New Loma Alta aggregates plant

NOVEMBER

The new aggregates plant (stone, sand, gravel, etc.) Loma Alta was inaugurated, integrating 52% of women in its payroll.

Award for Green Concrete

DECEMBER

Among 400 projects, the company was proclaimed winner of the industry category of the Guayas and Quil Environmental Challenge with the Ecopact proposal, a concrete solution with 30% to 50% less carbon footprint compared to a concrete design made with cement. conventional.

Safe waste destruction

Through Geocycle we work with different municipalities of the country in the elimination of waste through co-processing. This method consists of destroying the waste at high temperatures for the best use of its energy and minerals.

Economic reactivation of the communities

In Guayaquil and Latacunga it opened the Post Covid-19 Economic Reactivation Program that develops the entrepreneurship of neighboring communities. An example is the strengthening of the Community Bank Network with a credit line of more than $ 45 thousand, in addition, 44 women have been trained who now produce masks, pants, etc.
