Peruvian fish preserves, an opportunity in the Chinese market

The president of the Association of Conserves of Peru, Jesús Véliz Valerio, participated as an exhibitor in the recent conference of promotion of the economic, commercial and business environment of Jiangsu – Peru, organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Jiangsu in Peru.

During his speech, Véliz Valerio highlighted the opportunities to strengthen commercial relations between the two countries, particularly in the fishing sector and the production of fish can. He also presented recent figures on Peruvian fishing exports, highlighting growth in products such as fishmeal (+72%), algae (+143%), fan shells (+111%), flying fish (+20%) and prawns (+8.8%), whose main destination was China.

The entrepreneur also stressed the importance of blue fish consumption such as jurel, mackerel and anchovy, highlighting its nutritional value and contribution to the fight against child malnutrition through its use in preserves.

The event was attended by representatives of the China Embassy in Peru, an official delegation of the province of Jiangsu, as well as senior officials and businessmen from both countries. Finally, Véliz Valerio thanked Jin Shiyang, president of the Jiangsu Chamber in Peru.
