Jorge Chávez Airport will have these taxi services to enter the new terminal in March 2025, according to ATU: Know how it will operate

Taxis will access the airport along Morales Duárez Avenue, with options to leave and collect passengers in specific areas, as well as offer a safe and modern service.

The urban transport authority for Lima and Callao (ATU), agency under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), informs the population that taxi services will operate normally at the new Jorge Chávez International Airport terminal.

The recent modernization of the airport includes the implementation of an innovative operational scheme that seeks to optimize the security and organization of the Taxis service. This initiative aims to eradicate informality in the sector, thus ensuring a more satisfactory experience for users who use this service.

Where will taxi services operate at the new Jorge Chávez airport?

Taxis will have access to airport Through the modular bridges located on Morales Duárez Avenue. The drivers will have three alternatives to leave passengers in the airport facilities.

  • Level 3 of the Terminal: Free and exclusive access to leave passengers, with 10 minutes of free permanence.
  • E1 or E2 parking: Taxi drivers can park in areas near the terminal, prior payment of an eventual or short stay rate. From there, passengers will access the terminal through ramps and elevators.
  • Free Via: Option with controlled access by the National Police of Peru (PNP) and the ATU.

In addition, for passenger collection, these transport vehicles will offer two options:

  • E1 or E2 parking: Taxi drivers can wait for passengers in these areas, after payment of the established rate.
  • Free Via: Access with PNP and ATU controls.

How the new system for application taxis at the new Jorge Chávez airport?

It is important to note that, in the new airport, the passenger, when leaving the terminal, you will find counts with the denomination “Authorized taxi“, which will operate under a modern and safe system.

  • In these modules, the user will give a QR code to be assigned to a vehicle.
  • The driver, through an application, will receive the notification of the service and move to the controlled route to collect the passenger.
  • These taxis will enter the airport through the AV. Néstor Gambetta and will go to a waiting area called “Staging Area”, from where they will mobilize only when a passenger is assigned.
  • After picking up the user, these vehicles will leave the airport through the modular bridge of the AV. Morales Duárez.

AV. Faulett will no longer be the entrance route of the Jorge Chávez airport

At the end of January, the Mayor of CallaoPedro Spadaro, reported that access to Jorge Chávez airport along Faucett Avenue will be limited due to the authorization of a new landing track on that road. Spadaro mentioned that he was not aware of this situation until he received additional information about the developing airport project.

Access to the airport will be carried out by installing two provisional modular bridges that link Morales Duárez Avenue with the new terminal. Travelers will have the option of using private vehicles or the public transport service “Aerodirect“, which will offer five routes and 57 strategically distributed whereabouts to facilitate the transfer.
