Customers will be able to enter with food from other stores to Cineplanet and Cinemark

With the recent authorization of the Government so that the cinemas can sell food and beverages for consumption inside their cinemas, from the Peruvian Association of Consumers and Users (Aspec) remember that the Cineplanet and Cinemark companies cannot prohibit entry to those who carry products purchased in other stores.

“It is a right that has already been won thanks to Aspec’s complaints against Cineplex (Cineplanet) and Cinemark (…) the measure has been in force for a few years but unfortunately the pandemic broke out. The exercise of this right was only temporarily suspended, and it is now operational (with the new permit) ”, the president of Aspec, Crisologo Cáceres, told La República.

Along these lines, Cáceres emphasizes that You will only be able to enter these cinemas with foods similar or identical to those they sell, such as canchita, soft drinks or sandwiches.

“It is not entering, as the businessmen caricatured, with your source of ceviche or tac tacu. They have to be foods similar to those sold in those establishments, “adds Cáceres, who urged Indecopi to act ex officio and standardize the measure in all the cinema chains in the market.

This newspaper learned that from Cineplanet they will respect the judicial provision, and allow customers to enter with food from other stores.

Since when will it be possible to enter the rooms with food?

The resolution that gives the green light to the new protocols does not specify how long this permit will govern, however, when consulting both Produce and Minsa, there is no concrete answer.

Although, voices close to the film industry say that these measures already govern from their broadcast, “but it depends on each chain from when it becomes effective.”

It is worth emphasizing that in some capital cinemas – especially – food and beverages have been sold for consumption inside theaters for a few days without any government or health authorization, which is contrary to public health, according to epidemiologist César Cárcamo .

Exclusive rooms for clients with two doses of the vaccine

Finally, from the National Association of Cinematographic Rooms of Peru (Anasaci), are committed to “contributing to the vaccination process and in those provinces where the condition of 40% of the fully vaccinated population is met, the rooms will be opened only for said public ”.

Likewise, they asked the population to assist with their vaccination cards to comply with the controls prior to entering the rooms.

“Cinemas have had a drop of 80% compared to 2019. We hope that with this new regulation, we can reverse and begin to reactivate this industry that provides employment and healthy and safe entertainment for our country,” concludes Mónica Ubillús, president of Anasaci.
