Indecopi fined Cinepolis with 30 UIT for restricting the entry of customers with food and beverages

The Specialized Consumer Protection of Indecopi (SPC) imposed a Fine of 30 UIT or S/160,500 to Cinépolis for preventing customers from entering their rooms with food and beverages acquired outside the establishment.

The sanction responds to a complaint of the Association of Consumers and Users of the Ancash Region and reaffirms a criterion previously established in 2018, when a similar measure was taken against other film chains.

INDECOPI: What does the fine say?

The National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) He dismissed Cinépolis’s argument that his business should be considered as a restaurant due to the sale of food and the presence of tables and chairs.
