Osiptel ratifies fines for more than 1.6 million soles for Telefónica

The Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) It ratified the fines for more than 1.6 million soles against the Telefónica company, after it committed more than 200 minor infractions and one serious one during 2018.

According to the Resolution of the Board of Directors No. 189-2021-CD / OSIPTEL, the telephone company received 226 fines for a total of 232.96 tax units (UIT), equivalent to 1 million 025 thousand 024 soles, after have exceeded the limit of 8% of time without availability in a consecutive or alternate period during 1 calendar year in 226 rural population centers.

Likewise, Osiptel confirmed the fine for Telefónica of 150 UIT, equivalent to 660 thousand soles, for “sending incomplete information regarding 63 public use telephones as well as 1 population center through the Public Use Telephone Registries without Availability that form part of its reports of occurrences and / or traffic reports, in the months of January to October 2018 ″.

In total, there were 1 million 685 thousand 024 soles of fine that the highest supervisory body of telecommunications imposed on the Spanish capital company.

It should be remembered that, on August 9, 2021, Telefónica filed a final Appeal against Resolution No. 252-2021-GG / OSIPTEL (in which Osiptel discarded the reconsideration appeal) and requested that it be granted the use of the floor, in order to present their arguments before the Board of Directors.

Finally, Osiptel declared today unfounded the appeal filed by Telefónica against both sanctions, in such a way that the administrative route has been exhausted. The next step for the company would be the prosecution of the case.
