In June of this year, credit for the acquisition of homes reached S/68,501 million, translating into an increase of 5.5% compared to the same month in 2023, according to the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).
In this regard, year-on-year growth was mainly driven by higher mortgage loans in soles, which expanded 6.5% year-on-year in June.
Meanwhile, in monthly terms, mortgage lending registered a 0.7% increase in June compared to May, accumulating a positive performance of 47 consecutive months. During the sixth month of the year, there was a 0.8% increase in mortgage loans in national currency compared to the previous month.
On the other hand, the preference for borrowing in soles to purchase homes remains, with the majority of these loans granted in national currency and only 7.4% in dollars.
