BCP announces that Yape and mobile banking are now operating normally

Through a statement on its official networks, the Credit Bank of Peru announced that Internet Banking, BCP Mobile Banking, Via BCP, ATMs, agents, Yape and Telecrédito are already operating normally. However, he clarified that interbank transfers and payment of services will be progressively reestablished.

Due to the inconvenience caused, the bank announced that the opening hours of its branches will be extended until 7pm. In addition, they indicated that customers who were unable to make their card or loan payment will be able to do so tomorrow without any extra charge.

BCP failures: which operations were problematic?

Users have reported on social networks difficulties in accessing the application Yapemake payments, transfers, review accounts in the app BCP and withdraw money from ATMs. Several offices and branches of the bank have ceased operations nationwide. Yape had already suffered a total crash on June 29 and failures in April of this year, just before the end of the month. This is the third problem with BCP services in 2024, after system maintenance at the beginning of the year that left these services inoperative, although it was not a crash.

Agencies suspended attention to the public

Some BCP agencies that were not providing service to the public due to system failures include those located in Miraflores, Cercado de Lima (Mesa Redonda) and some in Trujillo. BCP issued a statement through its social media, stating that its agencies are operating normally but with limited capacity, and that they were working to resolve the issues.

Yape also suffers a fall

BCP’s Yape app issued a statement regarding the failures in its service nationwide. “A thousand apologies, Yapero. The app is experiencing some glitches, we are working to fix it as soon as possible,” they announced in their social media stories. In addition, when trying to access the digital wallet, the following message appears: “Yape is under maintenance. We are working to provide you with a better experience.”

BCP today: what to do if Yape doesn’t work?

If Yape is not operational and you need to make an urgent payment or transfer, there are several alternatives available. You can use other financial institutions’ mobile banking to send money directly. Other options include digital wallets such as Plin or IziPay Ya, which also allow for quick transfers using phone numbers.

You can also make cash payments at establishments that accept it or withdraw money from ATMs to make in-person payments. You can also make bank deposits at agent counters of other banks.

For payments, you can go to a mobile agent located in stores, pharmacies or shops. It is advisable to ask at the establishment to ensure availability and make the payment without problems.
