Along these lines, it is proposed – through Proinversión – the awarding of 17 projects for US$3.2 billion between July and December of this year.
During the third quarter of 2024, the concession contract for the Huancayo – Huancavelica Railway, known as Tren Macho, will be awarded. This will promote economic development and guarantee the transportation of people and cargo through a railway service in the central area of Peru. This will require an investment of US$394 million.
In addition, Projects such as the Longitudinal de la Sierra Section 4 (US$1.180 million) will be developed12 electrical projects of the Transmission Plan in Lima, Ica, Ayacucho, Apurímac, Arequipa, Puno, Ucayali, Ancash and Junín (US$612 million), the operation and maintenance of the new emergency hospital in Villa El Salvador (US$154 million), and the Wastewater Treatment Plant – PTAR in Puerto Maldonado (US$98 million).
On the other hand, he stressed that it is time for Huancavelica to have an airport to boost connectivity and strengthen the region through activities that arise mainly from tourism.
“It is unacceptable that Huancavelica, one of the poorest regions in Peru, does not have an airport, which means that our sisters and brothers in the region have to spend long hours travelling by land to get to the capital and other areas of the country. For this reason, I announce that in the third quarter of this year the selection process will begin to develop the profile of an airport in Huancavelica, thereby strengthening our path towards economic, social and tourist development in the region,” said Boluarte.
Ancón Industrial Park will be awarded after 8 years
From October to December of this year, the execution of the Ancón Industrial Park will be awarded, a project that is part of the global logistics hub, made up of the Chancay and Callao axis, based on the substantial improvements that Produce and Proinversión have implemented in the conditions and incentives that will be provided to investors.
In that sense, The project is expected to generate private investment of US$762 millionin addition to 35,000 direct and indirect jobs. Furthermore, by taking advantage of existing resources under the approach of a circular economy, basic services will also be developed, such as water and drainage, electrification, telecommunications and optical fibre.
What projects will you be planning for 2025?
In order to promote private investment and reduce the gaps in public services, various projects will be promoted in the areas of sanitation, health, transport, agricultural development and irrigation, education and development, and social inclusion by 2025.
Among the projects in the sanitation sector, the expansion and improvement of drinking water and sewage services in the city of Juliaca, in Puno, in human settlements in Piura and in the district of Ventanilla stand out. The sum of these three projects would translate into an investment of S/.3,097 million and would benefit more than one million Peruvians.
In the health sector, the plan is to improve health services at the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital in Lima and the Sergio Enrique Bernales National Hospital in Comas, as well as the creation of specialized health services at the High Complexity Hospital in the district of Twenty-sixth of October, in Piura. The sum of the projects would be S/3,977 million, benefiting more than 2.6 million Peruvians.
Among the projects to be carried out next year in the transport sector, the most notable are the 4th Amazonas road axis and the construction of the Lima and Callao peripheral ring road.totaling an investment of S/8,000 million. Meanwhile, in the agricultural development and irrigation sector, the third stage of Chavimochic will be developed, with an investment of S/3,800 million, as well as the second stage of Majes Siguas, with an investment of S/2,400 million and the improvement of the network of services for innovation, technological transfer and agricultural technological extension in the six agricultural experimental stations of INIA, with an investment of S/404 million.
On the other hand, for the education sector, the implementation of Package 8 will begin, which includes 7 investment projects of the Bicentennial Schools Special Public Investment Project, educational institutions located in Cusco and Puno for an investment of S/596 million, benefiting 7,025 students. And in terms of development and social inclusion, the information services of MIDIS will be improved within the framework of the National Targeting System (Sinafo) at the national level, with an investment of S/257 million.
