MásMóvil analyzes entering a partner in Euskaltel’s new fiber network

The company intends to create a new company and incorporate an investor 50%. Companies like Onivia or Lyntia or investment funds like Infravia would be interested. According to MásMóvil, this operation “is compatible” with its commitment to “not sell any part” of the Basque operator’s networks.

MásMóvil is studying to admit a partner, with about the 50 %, in the company that it will create to control the future fiber optic access network for the home (FTTH) of the Euskaltel group, which will reach 1.1 million homes in Euskadi, Galicia and Asturias.

The company has explained to EFE that there is still no decision made on that option, advanced this Friday by the newspaper Expansion, and has clarified that, in the event of entering a partner, MásMóvil would always maintain operational control of the network.

According to MásMóvil, this operation “is compatible” with MasMóvil’s commitment to “not sell any part” of the Basque operator’s networks.

The objective is to “modernize the last mile” (the part of the networks that connects homes or businesses to the operators’ networks) of the Euskaltel group, which is currently cable.

To do this, the company wants to create a new valued society, at least in 500 million euros, although it could increase to 700 million “thanks to the interest that exists for these assets and the high value that the latest transactions have reached,” according to the newspaper.

Wholesale telecommunications operators such as Onivia o Lyntia O investment funds such as Infravia they would be interested in entering this new society.
