Collective bargaining agreement expanded fiscal space to S/825 million to increase payment to public employees from 2025.
Following a series of meetings between state workers’ unions and the government of Dina Boluarte, a collective agreement was reached to raise the pay received by just over one million people by S/100.
Thus, it was set to expand the fiscal space for salary increases from S/188 million to S/825 million: at first they were going to receive S/23.5 a month on average as an increase but now it will be S/100.
Which regimes will benefit from public sector wage increases?
“This collective bargaining is a great step forward in the face of a social debt that all governments have been accumulating towards state workers,” Winston Huamán, general secretary of the Intersectoral Confederation of State Workers of Peru – CITE, told La República.
It is worth adding that according to the collective bargaining document to which this newspaper had access, the salary increase will apply to all regimes: 276, 728 (those in the private scheme in the State), civil service and special career penitentiary and diplomatic workers, as well as the CAS.
S/200 bonus for all workers
It was also agreed to deliver, in January 2025, a bonus of S/200 for all the aforementioned regimes. Huamán points out that this financial aid is much less than the S/600 that was delivered this year.
Here, labor lawyer Fernando Cuadros Luque emphasizes that the reduction in the bonus is due to the fact that more resources have been allocated to permanent expenses: salary increases and wage increases.
