The celebration of the Fiestas Patrias would translate into the growth of the tourism sector. According to estimates by SKY Airline, from July 25 to 30, more than 48,000 tourists will travel between Lima and the interior of the country through 310 flights. Along these lines, it is projected that Cusco will lead the demand with projections that exceed 15,000 visitors.
It is also estimated that by this time, Arequipa, another of the favourite destinations, will reach 8,400 visits. Meanwhile, warm places such as Tumbes and Piura will be the attractive option for 3,400 and 3,000 users, respectively.
As for the cities in the Peruvian Amazon, such as Iquitos, Pucallpa and Tarapoto, they would total 9,000 tourists. While the Juliaca and Ayacucho reserves would gather 2,700 and 1,700 people, respectively.
This is how the Tourism Guild of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL), forecasts a 12% increase in sales of tourism and hotel services compared to the previous year.
More than 16,000 tourists would travel abroad
According to the airline’s projections, it is estimated that more than 16,000 passengers will choose to travel abroad, with around 104 flights. Among the international destinations, Santiago, Miami, Buenos Aires, Cancun and Punta Cana stand out as the most popular.
“At an international level, we expect the star destination to be Santiago, with more than 7,100 travelers. We are also confident in the preference of travelers for our direct route between Lima and Miami, where we project an occupancy of up to 90% during these dates. Similarly, Cancun and Punta Cana, the Caribbean routes to which we operate every day, will host more than 3,800 people,” said Franco Chaparro, SKY sales manager in Peru.
