Amount of works for taxes reaches historic record of S/1.631 million

In the first half of 2024, the amount awarded through the Works for Taxes (OxI) mechanism reached a historic record of S/1,631 million through 28 projects completed with the technical assistance of the Private Investment Promotion Agency (Proinversión).

This result even exceeded the annual amounts awarded in 16 years of the creation of the Works for Taxes mechanism and by 48% the goal set for the whole of 2024 of S/100 million.

“The rise in this investment mechanism is a reflection of the confidence of public entities and private companies that work together to provide the country with quality infrastructure and public services,” explained Proinversión Executive Director José Salardi.

Another important factor is the agency’s participation in the dissemination and promotion of investments under the OxI mechanism, providing advice, technical assistance and facilitating coordination with private companies interested in financing the projects. Thus, some 17 companies and 10 public entities used this investment mechanism for the first time this year.

For the remainder of the year, The agency expects to award another 26 projects through Works for Taxes for S/686 million, an amount that will allow reaching a record figure of more than S/2.3 billion by the end of 2024.

Health and drinking water projects stood out

In the period in question, Proinversión awarded the megaproject for the “Improvement and expansion of care of Hospital Health Services in Víctor Ramos Guardia – Huaraz”, a project that will require an investment of S/1,099 million, for the benefit of 1.8 million population. The award process was entrusted to the agency by the Regional Government of Ancash.

Also highlighted are the Drinking Water and Sewerage projects in the Gregorio Albarracín Lanchipa district, Tacna (S/86 million); the Riverbank Protection Project in the Pichari district, Cusco (S/63 million); the San Isidro Sports Complex in Ica (S/48 million); and the Improvement of the 40029 Ludwing Van Beethoven Educational Institution in the Selva Alegre district, Arequipa (S/40 million).

Including the results of the first semester, between 2009 and 2024, 536 projects have been awarded for an investment amount of S/9,175 million, benefiting 22 million Peruvians. In addition, 213 local governments, 21 regional governments, eight entities of the National Government and two public universities have been involved.

Among the projects in the portfolio are “Drinking Water and Sewage – Pucusana” (S/276 million), from the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, “Implementation of the Irrigation System in the Yura River Basin” (S/97 million) of the Regional Government of Arequipa and the Acquisition of Communication Equipment from the General Directorate of Controls and Sanctions in Communications (DGFSC) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (S/43 million).
