In the framework of the Copa América United States 2024 and the Fiestas Patrias, Peruvians on average will spend between S/280 and S/550 on retail purchases – that is, shopping centers and stores -, according to the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL).

Leslie Passalacqua, president of the Retail and Distribution Guild of the CCL, points out that the enthusiasm for the continental sports festival generates a positive scenario for retail trade, boosted by the start of the National Holidays campaign. Although a lower flow of visitors to the physical spaces is expected due to “the intense cold” and because they want to watch the Copa América in the comfort of home.

Retail sales are projected to exceed pre-pandemic levels, reaching more than S/3.8 billion.

Food, beverages, household items, clothing, footwear and technology are the most in-demand products in this campaign. The greatest impact on spending will be due to liquidity after the release of the CTS, AFP and gratuity.

“Modern shopping centers have become dynamic and multifunctional spaces that adapt to the needs and expectations of today’s consumers. Here you can find supermarkets, restaurants, clothing, footwear and accessories for all tastes and budgets, household items, electronic products, food and beverages, among others,” he added.
