The regulatory body reported that, prior to the entry into force of the new rates, “the procedure for setting rates established in the Tariff Regulations (RETA) will be followed.” This rate setting process would only begin in 2026.
The Supervisory Body for Investment in Public Transport Infrastructure (Ositrán) clarified that the new airport rates for the new terminal of the Jorge Chavez International Airport will come into effect in January 2027.
Recently, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Association of International Air Transport Companies (AETAI) warned of a possible increase in rates as a result of modernization work.
The regulatory body reported that, prior to the entry into force of the new rates, “the setting procedure established in the Rate Regulations (RETA) will be followed.” This rate setting process would only begin in 2026.
The only rate that will be set due to the new configuration of the passenger terminal building is that of the TUUA for transfer passengers, in accordance with what is established in Addendum 6 of the AIJC Concession Contract.
“This rate setting procedure is in process. The rate would be applied with the start-up of the new terminal,” Ositrán indicated.
Regarding the request from airlines to delay the start of operations of the new AIJC passenger terminal, Ositrán stated that Lima Airport Partners (LAP) has the obligation to deliver the new terminal by January 30, 2025.
The entity attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) added that the airport operator company that has been assigned the operating risk of the concession has set the closing date for pre-operational activities as December 18 of this year.
“Taking into account that for the start of the operation it is required to previously have authorizations from the aeronautical authority, municipalities and that other government entities such as Customs, Immigration, National Police, Sunat and others, provide the necessary services,” he concluded.
