The Judiciary agreed with the tax authority and determined that the debt filed was made in accordance with the Law. Only in the first half of this year, Sunat has been able to collect almost S/1.1 billion of the debt from the telephony.
The telecommunications company Telefónica del Perú had to pay the tax debt corresponding to the Income Tax for the year 2000 that it had with the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat), after the execution of a new letter of guarantee. The amount that had to be corrected exceeded S/347 million.
This is how the collecting entity managed to cancel part of Telefónica’s tax debt again, despite various legal actions implemented by the company to delay payment.
It is important to mention that in April Sunat had already achieved the execution of a group of guarantee letters for an amount of S/746 millioncorresponding to the Income Tax litigation for the years 2000 and 2001.
Only in the first half of this year, The Tax Administration has been able to collect almost S/1,100 million of Telefónica’s debtwhich has remained in controversy for more than 20 years.
However, to date, the Telefónica company still maintains litigation with the Peruvian State for almost S/3.2 billion.
