There is a deterioration in economic performance and government efficiency, according to the IMD.
The Peruvian market has lost value in competitiveness indices, according to the International Institute for Management Development (IMD): it fell to 63rd place, its worst result since 2020. Last year, it was in 55th place.
According to the IMD, we fell 7 places in economic performance – now ranking at 60 – and with greater emphasis on the domestic economy (65), followed by international trade and employment (62 and 53, respectively).
Meanwhile, government efficiency fell to 55th place, dragged down by a weakened institutional, social and business legislation framework.
There was also a decline in business and government efficiency, with the main weaknesses being productivity and efficiency (64), technological infrastructure (65) and scientific structure (64).
The IMD estimates that the main challenges for the Peruvian economy are to eliminate corruption, strengthen public institutions and create greater political stability.
