Latam Airlines, one of Latin America’s leading airlines, has revealed its expansion plans for next year. The company will include three new international routes from Lima, offering Peruvian travelers more options to discover destinations in the Caribbean and South America. This initiative will not only benefit tourism, but will also boost the local economy by increasing air traffic and encouraging cultural and commercial exchange.
Latam’s expansion is part of a broader post-pandemic growth and recovery strategy, where airlines seek to regain ground and capture new markets. The new routes to Jamaica, Brazil and Argentina reflect a focus on popular and emerging destinations, which promise to be attractive to both tourists and business travelers.
What are the new routes that Latam will open?
- Lima – Montego Bay (Jamaica)
- Lima – Rosario (Argentina)
- Lima – Curitiba (Brazil)
New Route to Montego Bay, Jamaica
One of the new destinations is Montego Bay, Jamaica. This popular Caribbean destination is known for its white sand beaches, luxury resorts and vibrant culture. The incorporation of this route will not only offer Peruvians a more accessible option to enjoy the Caribbean, but will also open new opportunities for tourism in both countries. Montego Bay is the second Caribbean destination that LATAM adds to its route network, reflecting a growing demand for sun and beach destinations.
With this new route, it is expected that there will be an increase in cultural and commercial exchange between Peru and Jamaica. Tourism authorities in both countries have expressed their enthusiasm for this connection, anticipating a flow of tourists that will benefit local economies.
Expansion in South America: Brazil and Argentina
In addition to Jamaica, LATAM will add flights to two important destinations in South America: Brazil and Argentina. In Brazil, the new route will connect Lima with Salvador de Bahรญa, a city with a rich history and vibrant culture. Salvador is known for its colonial architecture, music and festivities, and this new connection is expected to strengthen ties between Peru and Brazil, promoting tourism and bilateral trade.
On the other hand, the route to Cรณrdoba, Argentina, represents an opportunity to diversify travel options to this South American country. Cรณrdoba, the second largest city in Argentina, is a cultural and economic center with a growing tourist attraction. This new route will allow Peruvian travelers to explore a lesser-known but equally fascinating region of Argentina, fostering a cultural and commercial exchange that will benefit both countries.
Since when will the new Latam routes be available?
LATAM Airlines will expand its operations with direct flights to Curitiba, southern Brazil, starting October 28. These flights will be carried out three times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, using Airbus A319/320 aircraft. This new route will strengthen the connection between Lima and Brazil, offering passengers greater flexibility and comfort for their trips. Likewise, direct flights to Rosario, in Argentina, will resume on December 1, also with three weekly frequencies on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The A319/A320 aircraft used on this route have capacity for 138 and 174 passengers, respectively, with seats in Premium Economy and Economy cabins, ensuring a comfortable travel experience for all passengers.
On the other hand, LATAM will resume its direct flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica, starting December 1. With a duration of less than five hours, this route will operate with Airbus A319/320 aircraft, expecting to transport 45,000 passengers during its first year of operation. The resumption of these flights will not only facilitate access to one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean, but will also reinforce LATAM’s commitment to offering more travel options and improving connectivity between Peru and other international destinations.
