Coverage of funeral expenses is an important concern for many Peruvian families, especially in times of loss. In this situation, the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) provides financial support to the relatives of the deceased insured, covering part of the funeral costs. The Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) offers a financial benefit intended to cover the funeral expenses of deceased insured persons. This subsidy has a maximum amount of S/1,000, which is given to the immediate family members of the insured to help cover funeral costs and which may vary depending on the expenses incurred:

• Stillbirth with more than 28 weeks of gestation or newborn up to 28 days: S/350
• Deceased from 29 days to less than 12 years old: S/700
• Deceased aged 12 or over: S/1,000

Who can apply for the SIS burial subsidy?

• People who have been designated as beneficiaries to receive this subsidy during affiliation with the SIS.
• Relatives up to the fourth degree of consanguinity or third degree of affinity, in the absence of an officially registered person. In this case, it is necessary to sign annex 3 HERE.

• The mother or father of the deceased or stillborn newborn.

The process for collecting the SIS burial allowance has been simplified to ensure that beneficiaries can access the funds quickly and efficiently. The steps to follow are described below:

• Go to the health center where the insured person died within 60 calendar days from the day after death. Additionally, you can go to the establishment closest to your place of origin or where you joined.
• Submit the required documents for the health center to verify. If there are observations, these will be recorded in the charge document sent to the borrower. To do this, you will have a period of no more than two business days to make the corrections and if this time expires, the file will be returned.
