The Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) confirmed the fine of more than S / 11 million to the operators Claro and Bitel for having violated various regulatory provisions of public telecommunications services.
By means of a published resolution in the official newspaper El Peruano, the supervisory body declared the appeals filed by the telephone companies unfounded.
Fines confirmed to Claro
In the case of Claro, the fine amounts to S / 10,604,508, equivalent to more than 2,400 UIT for the infractions detailed below:
- A fine of 51 UIT for non-compliance with the commitment to improve the CCS indicator, corresponding to the town of Chacas, compared to the first half of 2017.
- Nine fines for non-compliance with the commitment to improve the CCS indicator compared to the second half of 2017.
- Three fines of 51 UITs, each one for non-compliance with the CV indicator improvement commitments, corresponding to the population centers of Bagua, Tayabamba and Macusani, compared to the first half of 2017.
- A total of 33 fines of 51 UIT each for non-compliance with the CV indicator improvement commitments, corresponding to the population centers of Bagua Grande, Lonya Grande, Caraz, Carhuaz, Chiquian, Andahuaylas, La Florida, Socabaya, San Juan Bautista , Calca, Ollantaytambo, Quillabamba, Urubamba, Tres de Diciembre, Casa Grande, Huamachuco, La Esperanza, Olmos, Patapo, San Luis, Mazuko, Buenos Aires, Catacaos, Chulucanas, Paita, Santa SofĂa, Talara, Pisacoma, Bellavista, Juanjui, Moyobamba, Tabalosos and Tarapoto.
- A fine of 45.90 UIT for the breach of the commitment to improve the CV indicator, corresponding to the town of San Gregorio.
Confirmed fines to Bitel
On the other hand, Osiptel also confirmed the lot of S / 398,640, equivalent to 90.6 UIT, to Bitel for the commission of the serious infraction typified in article 7 of the Regulation of Inspection, Offenses and Sanctions, approved by Resolution No. 087-2013-CD / OSIPTEL.
