The Minister of Economy and Finance, José Arista, detailed this Friday that “after a red 2023”, Peruvian productive activity is emerging from the recession.

“In April things are better. We grew around 3.1% and 3.2%. We hope that growth will be sustained,” He said at the Business Breakfast “Economic Reactivation Plan” of the Peruvian Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

Arista Arbildo emphasized that the goal for 2024 is to have the GDP at 3.1% and, under a conservative perspective, maintain it at 3% in the following years. However, he insisted that “what is coming for Peru” is a rate close to 5% in order to reduce poverty.

The official maintained that “the economic part is going well” but the political side usually brings “small shocks”, so he recommends avoiding these scenarios to continue encouraging investments.
