The Yape platform in Peru has more than 14 million users. Thus, it is consolidated as the most used digital wallet in the country. This application, created by Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP)stands out for its ease of carrying out contactless transactions and for offering additional services such as loans, currency exchange and the purchase of various products and services.

Although Yape has multiple functionalities that make it a very useful tool, it is possible that users make mistakes when making virtual transfers, which could lead to accidentally sending money to the wrong person. These mistakes are quite common and the BCP application It tells you what to do when they happen.

Is it possible to cancel a transfer by mistake in Yape?

According to Yape, it is not possible to cancel a transfer in error. “Unfortunately, it is not possible to reverse, modify or cancel yapeos that you have made,” reads the website of the BCP app.

Why can’t a mistaken yap be canceled?

According to Yapea failed transfer in the application cannot be canceled for the following reasons:

  • All payments made through Yape are immediate.
  • Yape is only an intermediary.

To solve this problem, Yape recommends contacting the person or entity to whom you sent the money and asking them to return it to you.

Errors in Yape transfers: what are the most common cases?

  • Mobile number error: Entering the wrong figure when typing the recipient’s phone number may result in money being sent to someone else.
  • Confusion when selecting the contact: If you have contacts with similar names, you could choose the wrong recipient when transferring.
  • Outdated information: perhaps a contact changed their mobile number and you did not update this information in your address book, this can cause money to be sent to the old number that now belongs to someone else.
  • Distraction: Making a transfer while you are distracted or in a hurry increases the risk of making errors when selecting the recipient or entering the amount.

What is the maximum transfer amount in Yape?

Yape modified the maximum limit of money allowed for a transaction. Previously, payments of up to S/500 per day could be made, but the new limit is now S/950.

It is important to mention that both limit options are still available and, once the application is downloaded, the system has the amount of S/500 integrated as a default option.
