The International Cocoa and Chocolate Show expects to receive 25,000 visitors this year

Peru will once again show the benefits of its cocoa based on quality and aroma in the 15th edition of the International Cocoa and Chocolate Show 2024. The event will soon take place from July 18 to 21 at the Lima Convention Center , expects to receive 25,000 visitors. In addition, it will have the presence of Switzerland, a world power in the chocolate industry.

“This is a good opportunity for the eyes of the world to be directed towards Peru and a good showcase to expose the richness of this product that has its strength in the various ecological floors of our country, but also in the work carried out by thousands of small producers to reach the level we now have,” said Anaximandro Rojas Gil, president of the Peruvian Association of Cocoa Producers (Appcacao) during the launch ceremony.

Likewise, it was announced that There will be the participation of 200 exhibitors, representing the 16 cocoa-producing regions; in addition to technology providers, buyers and various delegations involved in the field.

It was also highlighted that for the second consecutive year, the Cocoa Show will be held in alliance with the Chocolat Show, one of the most important festivals in the world of chocolate that has allowed Peru to enter its global calendar of fairs.

Relevance of Peruvian cocoa

The price of our cocoa reached historical highs in March (almost US$10,000 per MT) and grew 175% annually in April (US$8,797 per MT), said the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

For his part, Lukas Heinzer, deputy head of mission of the Swiss embassy in Peru, reported that Peruvian exports of cocoa and derivatives to Switzerland have tripled in the last five years, exceeding US$12 million in 2023.
