The Supreme Decree that modifies the Regulation of the Satellite Tracking System for fishing vessels (Sisesat) was published by the Ministry of Production to expand the market that currently only has two companies authorized to offer the satellite tracking service.

This proposal, subject to comments for five calendar days, seeks to expand the offer of suitable satellite providers in order to increase competitiveness in the market and promote a cost reduction that would mainly benefit the most vulnerable sectors of artisanal and smaller-scale fishing.

Likewise, it is expected to improve the traceability of hydrobiological resources, complying with the required international standards. In that sense, The improvement of Sisesat is prioritized in order to monitor the fishing operations of commercial vesselsboth national and foreign.

On the other hand, it is intended to eliminate the letter of guarantee as a condition for being a provider of satellite tracking services to facilitate access to more companies and individuals that offer these services, thus increasing the available options and improving costs for those administered.
