The Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Ángel Manero Campos, said that his portfolio will propose introducing the reform of the Agrarian Law in the request for legislative powers from Congress.
During the launch of the third edition of Agrofest 2024, organized by the Association of Agricultural Producer Guilds of Peru (AGAP), the head of Midagri considered the proposal to permanently reduce the Income Tax (IR) to 15%. ) to agro-export activity.
“We are coordinating with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) to add this issue to the request for powers. We still have time,” Manero stressed.
As recalled, after the repeal of the old Agrarian Promotion Law, it was determined that companies whose net income exceeds S/8.8 million (1,700 UIT) had to pay 15% IR in 2021 and 2022, and then progressively , pay 20% in 2023 and 2024.
On the other hand, Minister Ángel Manero stressed that, in the request for powers, they will propose before Congress the entry of transgenic crops into Peru, for which exceptions will have to be made to the current moratorium, in force until 2035.
“This year will be historic for Peru, not only because of the infrastructure projects that will be unblocked (Chavimochic, Chinecas, etc.), but because of the entire framework that we are going to recover to recover investments and promote biotechnology,” he highlighted.
