According to the Peruvian Institute of Economics (IEP), 40% of Peruvian workers stop working immediately after having their first child and it is very difficult for them to return to their previous jobs even after ten years. Given the lack of flexible schedules that suit their new role as mothers, they prefer to sacrifice their professional lives. This is why hybrid work becomes a valuable proposition for them.
“41% of working women do not return to their jobs after becoming mothers, and This indicator is higher than the average for Latin America and the Caribbean (37%), occupying the ninth highest position in the region”says Natalie Sablich, director of administration and finance at ManpowerGroup Perú.
Along these lines, Sablich maintains that one of the most difficult decisions for a mother is choosing between taking a break from work to dedicate herself to raising children or leaving them in the care of a person. Faced with this, she affirms that semi-presentiality or remote work is what mothers value most today and that the hybrid day allows them to configure the balance between their family and work tasks.
“In this regard, the empathy of bosses to understand and reasonably grant recoverable permissions to address personal issues is one of the benefits that mothers also value greatly; In addition, it motivates them to achieve their business objectives,” she argues.
