Yape: how can I identify a fake transfer? Follow these steps to avoid scams

Yape, the popular transfer application in Peru, improved the way money is moved between people and businesses. However, its widespread use has given rise to scammers taking advantage of their users’ trust by creating ‘fake Yapes’ or fraudulent receipts using templates made on web pages. Although the application has strong security measures, the increase in the number of Yape scams shows the importance of verifying the originality of each transaction.

Criminals have come up with new ways to trick users by manipulating screenshots and confirmation messages to appear genuine. Merchants and users of this digital wallet must be vigilant and know how to identify these ‘False Yapes’ to avoid economic losses and unnecessary frustrations.

What is a fake Yape like?

Counterfeiters often use platforms available on the web, one of them is called “Zheard Blog”. This website is used to generate fraudulent receipts that pretend to be real receipts of Yape. These screenshots show amounts, dates, and names, thus misleading merchants who rely solely on these elements to confirm receipt of payment. Criminals also use excuses such as ‘I haven’t received the message’ or ‘it hasn’t been updated’ to prevent their victims from reviewing their application.

The deposit must be reflected with the correct amount along with the time and the sender’s name. Additionally, those who use this application will receive a notification on your devices for each transaction made or received. If the merchant cannot corroborate this information, it is advisable not to deliver products or offer services until the correct deposit of the deposit is confirmed.
