Indecopi begins a preliminary investigation into Interbank for a decrease in money in savings accounts

The Consumer Protection Commission of Indecopi decided to open an ex officio investigation into Interbank after complaints from various users when they noticed the reduction of their balances in their bank accounts.

Indecopi, through the technical secretariat of the Consumer Protection Commission, decided to open an ex officio investigation into Interbank. This happens following the complaint of various users who, during the weekend, noticed the reduction or disappearance of the balance of their bank accounts. With them, the entity will seek to establish responsibilities and, if necessary, initiate an administrative sanctioning process. As recalled, users on the social network X (formerly Twitter) reported problems on the platforms of said financial institution.

For preliminary investigation, the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi), points out that the Consumer Protection and Defense Code establishes that entities providing a service have the obligation to provide the user with all necessary information to make appropriate use or consumption of the products offered. Likewise, it points out that these services must have the same characteristics based on the information transmitted.

What happened to Interbank services?

During the last weekend, users showed their indignation on social networks when they realized that their bank accounts Interbank They showed a lower balance and even reduced it to S/ 0 in some cases. “Money has been deducted from my Interbank accountwhen I have not made any transfer or withdrawn money,” said an obfuscated user. Faced with repeated requests from its users to know the reason for this problem, Interbank pointed out that the balances of its clients they are safe and that the problem arises due to the duplication of consumption that could temporarily affect the accounts.
