Lennin Frank Quiso Córdova was appointed as the new executive director of the National Telecommunications Program (Pronatel) by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC).

In this way, ministerial resolution No. 191-2024-MTC/01, signed by the minister of the branch Raúl Pérez-Reyes, occupies the position left by Sarita Vílchez on April 5 (although the resignation was made official on the 8th) .

Vílchez Castellanos left his position after a Panorama report revealed that he was under pressure to make specific payments to private companies, even though they had not finished documenting the completion of their work. The case is evaluated by the MTC Attorney General’s Office.

Among other public positions, the new executive director of Pronatel previously served as manager of Regulatory Policies and Competition of the Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel).

Pronatel is the organization charged with promoting access and use of essential public telecommunications services for rural residents and residents of places of preferential social interest.

To this end, it formulates and evaluates investment projects in telecommunications and supervises their correct execution, thus contributing to the reduction of the digital divide.
