The Ministry of Production (Produce) reported that, in the first three days of the start of the first fishing season in the North-Central zone, an advance of 149,781 tons of unloading of the quota of the anchovy resource was recorded.
The total quota assigned for this new fishing season for anchovy (Engraulis ringens) and white anchovy (Anchoa nasus) amounts to 2,475 million tons, according to Ministerial Resolution No. 000118-2024-PRODUCE.
The main ports where anchovy fishing has been unloaded were Malabrigo, Chimbote, Callao, Coishco, Chancay, Carquín and Bayovar. Likewise, the plants that received the resource were TASA, Exalmar, COPEINCA, Diamante, Hayduk, Austral and CFG Investment.
The steel fleet (DL 25977) recorded a discharge of more than approximately 119,690.72 tons, which represents around 80% of the total discharged.
Meanwhile, the timber fleet (Law 26920) unloaded more than 30,090.64 tons, equivalent to 20.09% of the total unloaded. It should be noted that the mode of the resource, or size, is 12 centimeters.
“This season is expected to be successful and benefit more than 3,000 SMEs nationwide, generating nearly 46,000 direct and indirect jobs, in favor of fishing actors,” the ministry said.
In addition, Produce pointed out that this activity will generate a contribution of 24% to the Fishing GDP, and a contribution of 0.5% to the national economy in aggregate terms (National GDP).
