The expectations of industrial entrepreneurs improved significantly. According to a survey carried out by the Institute of Economic and Social Studies (IEES), of the National Society of Industries (SNI), 43% of the sample has favorable prospects for their sector for the next three months, compared to 16% in the study. former. Along these lines, the number of those who expect the situation to remain the same decreased from 61% to 48% and the number of those who had unfavorable expectations decreased from 23% to 9%.
The first three months of the year have brought good results: 59% of those interviewed recorded production equal to or greater than this compared to the similar period last year and 54% of them stated that their sales were maintained or increased.
GDP grew 2.85% in February, its best result in almost two years
However, despite this improvement, the majority of industrialists still do not plan to hire more personnel in the next three months or make investments. Among its main reasons are: the lower volume of production and sales, the low level of demand, market stagnation, political and economic uncertainty, among others.
The Communications and Institutional Relations Management of the SNI emphasized that, given the fall of the industry in 2023 and the lack of dynamism of the sector in the last decade, entrepreneurs are not fully using their installed capacity, which would explain the small percentage available to make new investments. According to the results of this latest survey, three quarters of those interviewed indicated that they had worked at up to 75% of their capacity.
