Following the observations of the Executive Branch, the Energy and Mines Commission approved an opinion on various bills to establish mechanisms that massify natural gas.
Segundo Quiroz, head of the working group, pointed out that the aim is to close energy gaps by leveling prices for regulated users that do not exceed 50,000 cubic meters (m3) per month.
Thus, it will be financed with the resources of the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE) and if it is not enough, an additional amount will be applied to the amount paid by customers of the natural gas and electric energy service.
Luis GarcĂa, general director of Hydrocarbons, specified that residential customers would have to pay S/0.30 more per month and businesses, up to S/1.00.
He added that metropolitan Lima concentrates 96% of the service, and with this measure, provincial families will stop paying up to S/60 for a bottle of gas and now spend, at most, S/30 per month.
