The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) reported that in January and February Peruvian agricultural exports increased by 12.3% compared to sales registered in the same period last year, now reaching US$1,862 million. Some of the largest placements were fresh or chilled asparagus (3.0%), cocoa beans (2.9%), paprika (1.8%) and fresh fruits (1.5%).
Regarding traditional agricultural exports, these reached US$152 million, a figure that represented a significant increase of 63.1% compared to what was registered in 2023. This achievement was mainly due to the higher recorded exports of coffee without roasted and undecaffeinated (US$133 million), as well as exports of refined cane or beet sugar (US$12 million). In this sense, sales of these products increased by 66.5% and 35.5%, respectively, comprising 95.3% of traditional agroexports.
Meanwhile, in the case of non-traditional agro-exports, these reached US$1,710 million, an amount 9.2% higher than what was observed in 2023. The main products in the agro-export ranking in the period analyzed were fresh grapes (US$405 million). , fresh cranberries (US$312 million), fresh mangoes (US$155 million) and avocados (US$86 million).
In addition, In February of this year, the agricultural trade balance registered a surplus of US$933 million, a figure higher by 27.9% compared to the amount registered in the same period of 2023.an increase explained in the increase in dollars of agricultural exports (US$203 million increase compared to 2023).
