Minister Patricio Donoso issued the agreement that formalizes the measure. The 6.25% increase also applies to sector commissions.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Minister of Labor, Patricio Donoso, issued the ministerial agreement MDT-2021-276, with which, officially, the basic unified salary (SBU) was set at $ 425 for next year.
The document was published on the institution’s website. It is provided that the new item will apply from January 1, 2022, for the worker in general, including those of the small industry, agricultural sectors, maquila, paid household members, handicraft workers and collaborators of the microenterprise.
The increase in basic, in relation to the $ 400 in effect in 2021, was 6.25%. The sectoral minimum wages, which appear in the respective commissions, will rise by this same percentage, the ministerial agreement indicates.
The commissions represent 22 economic activities, such as fishing, aquaculture, textile products, among others. In each one the minimum remunerations for certain positions are established, whose values, in some cases, will exceed $ 425.
Through social networks, the Minister of Labor stated that the increase in the basic salary “is already a reality.” “Yes we do!” Donoso wrote.
On Monday night, President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso posted on Twitter: “What is promised, is fulfilled. The happiness of the workers for the salary increase to USD 425 is felt throughout Ecuador, because now their families will have more income in their homes. 2022 looks promising. ” (I)
