Chicken price begins April with a reduction of up to S/2.50 per kilo

After learning that inflation in Metropolitan Lima in the month of March increased by 1.01%, La República took a tour of some retail markets in the capital to find out the price of the main products in the basic basket at the beginning of the fourth month from 2024.

A kilo of chicken can be found for up to S/10, when in previous days its price even reached S/12.50, according to information from merchants at Mercadito Limoncillo, Mercado Chira and Mercado La Aurora. Although it has had a declining performance, a kilo of wholesale chicken is currently offered at S/7.00, according to information from the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri).

On the other hand, the chicken eggwhich had an increase of 12.1% in the Metropolitan Lima Consumer Price Index (CPI) report last month, today can be found for up to S/9 per kilo in retail markets, while in wholesalers The average is S/8.44.

The potato, one of the flagship tubers of our country, does not exceed S/1.80 per kilo. This price has been maintained in recent days or in specific cases it has managed to drop from the S/2 at which it was.

The average per kilo of rice has remained at S/4.40 and oil has decreased by up to S/9.50. On the other hand, a kilo of noodles ranges between S/4.30 and S/4.50 and at Mercado La Aurora the ¼ of noodles remains at S/1.20. As for onions, the price at the Mercadito Limoncillo has doubled, reaching S/4 per kilo today, and at the Mercado La Aurora it has decreased, from S/5 to S/4.50. While the kilo of peas has increased by up to S/10.
