Elizabeth Galdo Marín was sworn in on the night of Monday, April 1, as the new Minister of State in the Foreign Trade and Tourism portfolio. She replaces the economist Juan Carlos Mathews. The new owner of the portfolio has a degree in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and studied Corporate Law and International Finance at Harvard University.

The arrival of Minister Galdo Marín occurs in a context where Peruvian exports, although it is true that they achieved a record value of US$64,355 million in 2023, barely grew by 1.1% compared to 2022, according to Mincetur statistics. .

Mathews’ change in the portfolio occurs along with five other changes on the eve of the vote of confidence in the Adrianzén cabinet. Recently, within the framework of the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization that was held in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Peru and Morocco expressed their interest in continuing talks to begin the negotiation of a future free trade agreement between both countries.
