The price of tuna has doubled during Holy Week and went from usually costing S/3.00 per kilogram to S/6.00.

According to the Ministry of Production (Produce), the species most requested by Peruvians during the festive long weekend are bonito, perico, squid, horse mackerel, mackerel, mullet, cabinza, lorna and machete; supplied mainly by artisanal fishing in resorts such as Pucusana, Huacho, Callao, Atico, Ilo, Paita and Ancón. In addition, fish consumption is expected to triple.
This newspaper confirmed that, At the Villa María del Triunfo terminal, the parakeet is sold for S/32.00; mackerel, at S/7.00; the tollo, from S/10.00; the smooth one, at S/8.00; and tilapia, starting at S/13.00.
While in Ventanilla the perico is available from S/18.00; the bonito remains at S/4.50; mackerel, at S/5.00; the tollo, at S/7.00; and the smooth one is S/9.00 per kilo.
