Iris Marleni Cárdenas Pino is the new Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons of Minem

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) appointed economist Iris Marleni Cárdenas Pino as the new Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons.

Supreme resolution No. 005-2024-EM also accepts the resignation of Julio Walter Poquioma Shaffer and thanks him for the services provided since October 2023.

Cárdenas Pino is a professional with a PhD in Environment and Sustainable Development and a Master’s degree in Economics with a Major in Quantitative Methods of Economics.

He has more than 20 years of experience in sustainable development, environment, social management, coordination with social actors, rural development, evaluation of environmental studies of hydrocarbons and electricity, relationship with communities surrounding hydrocarbon, electricity and mining projects, design energy policy, energy planning, among others.

She has been president and member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Generation Company (Egesur), member of the board of directors of the Electricity Distribution Company in Puno (ElectroPuno) and currently of Distriluz.
