Exchange rate: dollar starts falling at S/3.6969 this Thursday, March 21

The dollar exchange rate started slightly lower at S/3.6969 this Thursday, March 21, 2024, according to preliminary data from the Bloomberg international currency exchange portal.

The day before, the greenback had peaked at S/3.6940 and then progressed until this Thursday’s opening, around S/3.7035, according to the official marker of the highest Peruvian issuing entity.

At the international level, the New York Stock Exchange closed on Wednesday with records in its three main indicators, encouraged by the future interest rate cuts suggested for this year by the Federal Reserve.

At the end of the session on Wall Street, the Dow Jones rose 1.03%, to a historical maximum of 39,512 points, and the S&P 500 advanced 0.89% and exceeded 5,200 integers for the first time, up to 5,224.

The Nasdaq index, which brings together large technology companies, rose 1.25%, to 16,369 units, and also marked a milestone, international media such as DW highlighted.

According to analysts, the last time a triple record was recorded on Wall Street was on November 8, 2021, just before the pandemic sent stock markets tumbling again.
