Former Vice Minister of Economy Juan Pichihua is the new head of the SMV

At the beginning of March, the Ministry of Economy and Finance had appointed Daniel Barco as vice minister of Economy, replacing Juan Pichihua. For her part, Lorena Masías leaves the SMV chair after having completed her maximum period of exercise.

The former vice minister of Economy of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Zósimo Juan Pichihua Serna, is the new head of the Securities Market Superintendence (SMV).

Supreme resolution No. 009-2024-EF concludes the appointment of Lorena de Guadalupe Masías Quiroga in office, after having completed the maximum period for her exercise, thanking her for the services provided.

Juan Pichihua is an experienced Economist from the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, he has a Master of Arts in Economics from ILADES/Georgetown University as well as a Magister Scientiae in Agricultural Economics, from the Universidad Agraria, where he also teaches.

A career MEF official, he has held different positions and positions as specialist, coordinator, director, executive director and general director, mainly in the current General Directorate of Macroeconomic Policy and Fiscal Decentralization and its predecessors. In addition, he has been an advisor in the Office of the Vice Ministry of Economy.
